All three doors of muga no kyochi... A perfection only matched by chitose and tezuka, but even their no match against echizen's dad. After all this is the guy who first used tezuka zone.Perhaps Ryoma will gain perfection by the battle in singles one during the match with rikkaidai.

haha yeah - then he'll probably be able to defeat his dad. i think that before the manga ends, they'll probably show us ryoma defeating his dad, since that was his goal all along. so i think it only makes sense that ryoma will be able to defeat him eventually then the manga could have a nice ending

Whoa, imagine Echizen defeats his dad by opening all three of the muga doors... Wow. O.o

It would be literally an explosive match.

i wonder how long the match will last

would it be the longest match or not

Probably 30 minutes a point. Or an hour for a set. Or even 80 mins for a game. It is Prince of Tennis after all. (Happened to Kintarou vs Echizen's match, why not this time?)

whoah that would be a real tennis match.

It would be one interesting read but most likely all we'll see is that Echizen will probably serve and that it will skip over to showing us that he finally beat his dad... that's where it ends.

Ooh, didn't that happen with Tezuka and Echizen as well? I really wanted to see Tezuka crush Echizen as well... *sigh*

Oh I was referring to the manga, when they first played each other, under the train station.

when ryoma first played tezuka they showed that match in the anime

Post by whisper on Aug 28, 2007 10:54:45 GMT 7
Yeah but the anime and manga are different in a lot of aspects. There are a couple of matches where they screw some things up in the anime, that's why I always prefer the manga.

did they show the whole match in the manga? when tezuka and ryoma played each other

|
Post by marui on Aug 28, 2007 18:49:35 GMT 7
Nope. They've skipped the whole match. They began with Tezuka asking Echizen to become Seigaku's Pillar of Support, serves the ball, then the end of the match with Echizen losing (to be precise, Tezuka was on the train with Oishi and they were talking about it, I don't remember seeing Echizen after the match). So yeah...
But one thing for sure, the manga is always the original. The anime sometimes changes things (screw things up in Rikkai's case) from the manga.

Well the anime might have skipped parts but it was definitely better watching a tennis match then seeing the pictures and reading the plot. I still love the manga but I like the anime a bit better cause of this.

Guess it all depends on your preference. As for myself I prefer the manga reading the pictures and such because I can invision it in my own mind. Just like a book, you read, it all goes through your head and it gets interpreted the way you and others think it should be, the way it should go, how it goes through your own heads. Just because the way the anime interprets things doesn't mean it's right, it's all just the anime writer's own interpretation.
It's not me to really be like "oh the anime says it's like that so okay. "That's just a no no.

True but I hope that they make the match between Ryoma's father and Ryoma after all this is the whole point of Ryoma's story.

"That's just a no no. My point exactly! When you read a manga, it is your own imagination, your own thoughts, but when you watch an anime, it's like you're watching another person's imagination, their thoughts. So yeah, but everyone's preference varies. It's a bit like, do you prefer reading Harry Potter or watching the movie? True but I hope that they make the match between Ryoma's father and Ryoma after all this is the whole point of Ryoma's story. Well, Ryoma's goal at the beginning of the story was to defeat his dad, and his dad only. So maybe, at the end of this series, Ryoma's goal would be complete, and the whole point of PoT was so that Ryoma could achieve this goal. Imagine all those matches against Hyotei, Rikkai etc was just to train Ryoma up to beat his dad.

but in their final match (echizen and his dad)- will ryoma even lose? i reckon he'd win, since most manga end that way. he's the main character after all and he's goal was to defeat his dad all along- so why not show him defeat his dad in the end?

Is he even going to play his father? There are only 12 chapters left.

yes unfortunately, 12 chapters! that's barely enough to complete the nationals! wth, if they dont show ryoma defeating his dad then i dont think i'm gonna have a sweet aftertaste of PoT...
hopefully they cna manage to squeeze ryoma vs his dad's match in these 12 chapters.

Or maybe Konomi will carry on drawing PoT, just not releasing it on the magazine? Maybe we'll find ongoing volumes released by Viz?

No I think seigaku will either win quickly or rikkaidai will take the win and the manga will end.

|
Post by genichirou on Sept 6, 2007 14:06:53 GMT 7
then the finals wont be so climatic after all - i thought since it was the finals of the nationals, it'd be a more climatic and exciting match.
ahh back on topic- i think that they're gonna show ryoma and his dad's match, and i would very much like to see that - even if that means the finals would be shorter.

Well maybe towards the very end perhaps but this means that it'll be like a skipped match like with tezuka under the train. Or maybe he'll just unlock the PoP and that'll just end it after he wins against yukimura. Maybe the point was for echizen to unlock PoP instead of beating his father.
