Fudomines pillar of support deserves his own thread. This is about the man who started a riot, and coached the unknown team to the Nationals. My favorite person in the whole serie.

Tachibana Kippei was formerly the second year ace of Shishigaku and one of the best two players in the Kyuushuu region. His play style can be described as similar to that of Rikkai Dai's Kirihara Akaya.
However, his bright career ended in a snap when one day, while he was playing against his rival, he started using rough play, and ended up injuring his opponent's eye. Because of what happened, that person could never play tennis again.
He took responsibility for what happened, and as a sign of penitence, he quit the tennis club, shaved his head, and moved to Kantou to a new school, Fudomine Chuu.
It seems that Tachibana Kippei could never abandon tennis. For upon moving to Fudomine Chuu, he witnessed how the first years in the tennis club were being treated unfairly by the coach and the upperclassmen. Seeing himself in them, he led them in boycotting the tennis club and starting their own team, with their own courts marked behind the dorms.
This futher angered their upperclassmen, who started hitting them. However, Tachibana told them not to fight back no matter what. When the coach learned about what happened, he immediately threw the fault at the freshmen, though it was obvious that the freshmen were the ones that were harmed and bruised all over. Not being able to take it any longer, Tachibana jumped on the coach himself and told him that he was not fit to be their coach at all.
Because of that incident, the tennis club was barred from the Newcomers' Tournament. However, this was not something that could hold Tachibana and the first year team back. Tachibana applied for a new tennis club, and led the team as their captain and coach, towards their goal -- the Nationals!
Fudomine was just a nameless, unseeded school at the tennis tournaments until Tachibana Kippei came and led the team towards second place in the District Preliminaries, fourth in the Tokyo Prefecturals, third in the Kantou Regionals, and now, for the first time, they're playing in the Nationals.
He serves as the team's captain, coach, and in general, their pillar of support. His teammates look up to him with respect, having led them this far. In the same way, Tachibana treats his teammates with respect, and recognizes their skills and potentials.
He aims for the team's victory, however, he will not sacrifice a single person on the team. He advised Ishida Tetsu not to use the Hadoukyuu anymore even though it's very powerful since it strains his arm and might result in him not being able to play again. During their match with Yamabuki, four of his members were on a car accident on the way, but they kept this fact from Tachibana and still arrived and played. When Tachibana found out about it halfway through the match, he immediately withdrew their team's participation so he can bring them to the hospital. Even though it was a very important match for them to be able reach the finals, and despite what others may say, he disregarded those and prioritized the health of his members, saying that all of them are important since they are all going to the top.
As an unseeded school, Fudomine is oftentimes underestimated and ridiculed, but it is Tachibana himself who restrains his teammates from fighting back, a sign of being a true leader and example to them.
During the Kantou Regionals, his fellow Kyuushuu player from before, Chitose saw his match and commented that he had become weaker, since he was much stronger than this a year ago. His teammates realize that this was probably because of the fact that he had to coach them and carry out practices without any other 3rd year members present -- there isn't a strong rival nor a strong coach to farther sharpen his skills. They know that Tachibana does not deserve to be buried there, and vows to become stronger for him.
Six days before the National Tournament, Seishun Gakuen's Fuji Syuusuke pays Tachibana a visit to his house and invites him to play a game with him at the street tennis courts, to gauge how he will fare in the tournament. Fuji angers Tachibana on purpose so he would show his true skills, and he did not disappoint Fuji.
When he plays seriously, Tachibana has an aura of a wild beast, ready to swallow his opponent. His original style of playing is rough, and so he warned Fuji to try not to get hurt. Their game was very intense, until they had to stop the game when Fuji's racket's strings broke while returning Tachibana's smash with his Higuma Otoshi. Before he left, Fuji told Tachibana's younger sister, An, that his brother will be okay.
With the awakening of the sleeping lion, we can finally see Tachibana's true skills in the National Tournament!
