 I was watching PoT 49 on jetstream and they comepletely ruined Akaya's character....i almost died inside >_<

[english dub!! i hate it... the voices totally suck and the lip synching job was horrendous
never watch the english dub, unless you want to die from the horror of the badness of their pathetic attempt to americanize tenipuri]

There was so may mistakes that made me want to cry. I really dislike Syuusuke's voice in the english version too. It didn't fit him at all and it sound to close to Momoshiro voice in the english verson. The thing that really made me mad was that they pronounce Tezuka's name wrong. Mizuki's voice sounded like Orochimaru from Naruto. Hopefully they don't make mistakes on Yukimaru voice...Unless they already did.

I was hoping for them to air PoT in english though to hear that they've done a poor job. I cry.
What I really hate are their voices..they suck :/

Hey i didn't mean to make a dub bashing thread lol
it's not their fault, PoT isn't as popular as Viz's other shows, it seems to have the worst production values, Naruto and Bleach get treated like royalty
Their voices aren't too bad, but Akaya's and Sengoku's pissed me off
And mizuki sounds (and is voiced by) Neji, not orochimaru
If TeniPuri was popular it would have been a much better

Mizuki sounds like Orochimaru? XD I don't watch ANY dubs. I HATE THEM!!! I'm worried about Yuushi-kuns voice, they aren't on ep 53 yet. I heard that Atobe in the english dub is voiced by the same person that does Sasuke. That would have been a better voice for Yuushi.

Argeed. Yuushi is suppose to have a very deep voice...That would be horrible if they make it squeaky and low...Like Syuusuke was suppose to have a light voice but instead it sounded like he was a comedian or something. Mizuki voice did sound like Orchimaru but then again...he did sound a little like neji...

English dub is not so horrible compare to chinese dub~ Ryuzaki-sensei sounds like an 18 years old, while Tezuka sounds 40something. . . and Fuji was. . .weird. . Atobe sound like as if he got some problem with his throat. . the only one I can bear with is Kabaji ~

Seriously! Kenshin playing kawamura? He's more suited for a soft character.

You're kidding me. The guy that plays GAARA of all people plays Nanjirou. o_0 and Momo's voice actor also plays Leon, and Kaido's, PERVY SAGE?  I forgot what the voices sound like in the PoT english dub since I tried to avoid it ever since I saw the first episode of the original. I own Chinese dub DVDs up to ep 52...Ibu's voice scared me and I had a heck of a time trying to figure out who's who when they called eachother by their names. I only know how to write 2 characters names in kanji (Oshitari and Fuji). The names sound really bad. Fuji is bu er and Oishi is da shi. They didn't get to Hyotei yet, but Oshitari is nin zu. |

not nin zu!! It's not so horrible if u speak chinese sa~ \___/ the names were the same as kanji~ I mean the name was not change \__/|||
Oshitari is not [nin zu]~! It's [yan zu]~ anyway~ chinese dub sucks but not the translation of names. . .except Inui. . .which should be read as [kong], yet it becomes [kin] while the subtitles read [kong] =___=||||||
If you want the Hyotei, I'll pronounce them for you!!!
Atobe: [Ji bow kingn ng]
Oshitari: [yan zu yau shi]
Gakuto: [hern yet ye-au yan]
the others . . .a bit lazy to post now sa~~ XD but thendunt try to read it in the way it is in english~ Afterall it's chinese sa~

They ruin everything...... That is so true! They messed up all of their voices and Fuji is way scary in the dubbed version. They also gave Ryoma corny lines like in the first episode!! " You bet it is! Your double fault!" [End quote]
I mean come on! Taka-san says "I'm on Fire" instead of "Burning!" Now that is dumb!!! He says burning in English on in the Japanese version, it doesn't make sense!!!! |

I didn't know Oshitari's since I own up to episode 52, the episode before he appears T_T Let's start a holiday here where we complain about the horrible-ness of the dubs! |

Jiraiya..Kenpachi as Kaidoh? Do you mean the english versions or japanese? The anime isn't as popular as Naruto and Bleach since it's one of the first translated sports anime that has kids in it.  Bleach and Naruto both have a many fighting scenes, I dunno how I'm hooked to all three. |

ah~!!! I'm getting confused too. . . the dub is weird in both chinese and english, but names are still 100% ok to me, since they follow the original one. .

People can't pick dubbers properly. Oishi sounds like a gangster over here in my TV, and I'm at my wits end >_< Thorough research has to be put in before picking skilled dubbers, not just someone lame who needs money. The thing is that dubbers don't dare to use a girl's voice on a boy, and if the boy should sound like a girl yet has a boy voice (aka Fuji) they screwed up big time.

^ Apparently a few shows here in Canada have no problem with the picking of girl's voices for boys. Since they do a pretty good job.
So far voices I've bothered to hear and absolutely hate> Eiji, Fuji..I really don't care much about the others since I've forgotten or tuned them out.
