um one of my friends (he's a fan-subber) told me that there are rumours about echizen's amnesia having got to do something with unlocking the pinnacle of perfection - like kintarou said (refer to the thread "chapter 354"
"well the first time echizen went into muga no kyouchi.. was in the match with kirihara right - at least according to the manga. he then won 6-4 but when he woke up at genichirou's place he couldnt remember who won. and couldnt really remember the match"- thats what my friend said. so.... yeah.

Yeah, I thought it would be something like that, but I just read the Kintarou//Echizen match again. Afterwards when it was hinted that Echizen opened up the last door his dad listening over the radio said that Ryoma had it wrong and still has a ways to go.
Well, let's just wait and see.

Also I look forward to the up and coming match. With two combustible elements such as Kaidoh and Kirahara (i'm glad the Manga kept his character as it is) in the same match along with their respected data-tennis fools... it ought to be one heck of a match.

i can't wait for that match either, but Rikkaidai is confusing the order on me. If Sanada played Singles 3 and Renji and Kirihara are playing Doubles 2, then I guess Yagyuu and Niou are still playing Doubles 1, which leaves Jackel, Bunta, and Yukimura....of those three, you can assume Yukimura would play Singles 1(obviously) but who would play Singles 2? and if Niou and Yagyuu aren't playing Doubles, that leaves all of Rikkai's doubles players open for Singles. Personally, i think Bunta should play singles cause he's awesome, but i don't know if he fixed his stamina problem yet (it'll probably be a really drawn out match, right?)
sry if this is confusing, it's basically just me rambling because no one at my house watches/reads Prince of Tennis

Amnesia, a state of the mind in which you can't remember anything of your past recollections. And thus leaves the mind pure. Hmm... makes it seem like perfection in which one remembers from instinct alone. However we all know he is going to release it since it is the finals.

Can amnesia be healed?

yes that's why it's mostly temporary. But sometimes it lasts a long time.

How do people get amnesia? Perhaps we can link that to why Ryoma's got it...
EDIT: Amnesia may result from chronic alcoholism, brain tumour and encephalitis as well as brain trauma.
Sounds un-Ryoma-ish to me.

they have different forms of amnesia

still it doesn't seem natural for ryoma to get it. Besides they used the whole amnesia thing during the episode with kaidoh so why replay it? Unless that's how ryoma unlock the pinacle of perfection.

But Kaidoh's amnesia was one of the anime-fillers, it never happened in the manga. Maybe, just to style out some of the anime-fillers, the mangaka decided to use some of the ideas?
But I agree with the amnesia thing having something to do with Ryoma unlocking the PoP.

hmm i think i pointed out earlier- when ryoma first used selfactualization (in the match with kirihara) he kind of had partial amnesia- he forgot who won and was only able to vaguely remember the match when he was at genichirou's place. besides, why would they want ryoma to have amnesia for other reasons? this is the last national match so ryoma's gotta play in it!

Yup yup. And after the Kirihara vs Fuji match, Kirihara woke up forgetting who had won or what had happened.

Yeah, Kirihara did Muga no Kyochi in the match against Fuji in the manga.
The anime didn't introduce Muga no Kyochi until the beginning of the nationals, OVA 6, Tezuka vs Kite.
Muga no Kyochi was introduced before the Rikkai matches in the manga, Echizen was the first one to do it, against Kirihara in an unofficial match.

Actually, Muga no Kyochi was introduced in the anime during Echizen's match against Sanada in the Kanto tournament. No one really knew what it was though, they were just in awe that he was copying everyone elses moves.

Actually, Muga no Kyochi was introduced in the anime during Echizen's match against Sanada in the Kanto tournament. Oops, my bad, ^^" gomen. Anyway, like tezuka said, if Sanada knew how to do SOSA, and so did Tezuka (he had it sealed in his first year), then why didn't they recognize it? Were they also in 'awe'? Or were they just playing dumb?

Back in the anime they named the move like "the eye of the tiger or something" perhaps they didn't make muga until later on and then had to rename it. Well I still don't understand what happened in Karuizawa, did he get into an accident or something? (Perhaps his father has a role in this after all we saw him after the semifinals saying mada mada daze ryoma.)

Yeah, maybe Nanjiroh 'forced' that amnesia to Echizen xD(ok, so that's not possible). But I used to get confused with Tachibana's aura and the SOSA.
