the age was 18 but this was widely ignored my great aunt was buying cigarettes when she was 15. popular brands were camel un filtered, lucky strikes un filtered, winston, chesterfields, L&M, pall mall un filtered, this when marlboro was introduced but as as a lady cigarettes they even had a red filter [on some packs] so lipstick didn't smear the filter.
