Anybody else found it disappointing, how they couldn't have an official match together? I was looking forward to it so much, since Kintarou's been praised as the 'West Rookie' and Echizen the 'East Rookie' (something like that). Anyway, I still didn't like how we couldn't see Kintarou's true form (all his techniques and the muga). I was expecting them to have an unforgettable, long, incredible match, ever since the intro of Kintarou, but no. Both of them had been compared and praised for a long time and most people were looking forward to seeing their 'official' match. But no. And I swear Kintarou's been dreading to play with Koshimae for a loOong time, why did Konomi-sensei do this? And now, I'm guessing, right after the finals, we're gonna see a bit about Ryoma and his dad, and that's the end of it. No more Kintarou. I've still got a lot more to say, but to avoid this being a long, boring essay, I'll let others contribute and have their say. So, who else agrees with me? And if not, why?

i also wanted to see the match between them. i remember back then before they were going to play i heard that ryoma might open the pinnacle of perfection during the match. they didn't have a match because seigaku won before they got to their match

Which I think Taka-san should have lost, or at least win without the opponent defaulting. I was hoping to see Tezuka lose to Chitose, but I guess Konomi had other plans for him, since he lost against Sanada.
Anyways, their one-point match going on for more than 30 mins was ridiculous IMO. But I guess it's something new and different from what Konomi would usually do.
Plus, didn't Chitose say Kintarou was the one closer to opening the PoP? Maybe the one who opened it at the match was Kin, not Echizen! *Just a thought, knows its impossible*.
Anyways, another thing that was ridiculous IMO was the tie between the two. Well, that's just my opinion.

yeah he did say that but after he played tezuka. he said that tezuka was the one closest to opening pinnacle of perfection.

Oh yeah ^^" my bad. Well, he was wrong anyway, because it ended up being Echizen who opened it. But Tezuka still opened 2 doors at once, thats... amazing.
Anyway, back on topic. I hope they get to play a proper match together before the end of the series.

My hope is that after the Nationals are over, Kintarou and Echizen will have an official re-match, in that they're both fated rivals so it's a must!!

But if they do have a re-match at the end of the nationals, how are they going to fit the match between Echizen and Nanjiroh? It'll be odd if they had it right after the re-match, and I don't think they'll add another BBQ chapter in between.

who do you think would have won if they did have their match?

Echizen no doubt Though I really want Kintarou to win, just to show Echizen who's the better rookie. Besides, Echizen always wins his matches, so it'll be a nice change to see him actually losing for once, in an official match, against another rookie, who's got a complete opposite personality to him.

Not official no. Just unofficially - his dad and Tezuka. Not fair huh.

well I felt really bad for kintarou not officially versing Ryoma, I mean from the first opening in the OVA it seemed to me like the kintarou vs Echizen match was going to happen but then it didn't. However I remember the chapter with higa chuu where even though seigaku won they still played the singles one match. Why was that?

Because that's how its been in every tournament? Even when the outcome has been decided if it's a team's first match in the tournament they go through all five matches. That's why Rokkaku and Higa kept playing even though the outcome was already decided because it was Rokkaku's first match. It's the same thing in the manga.

Ahh that's horrible if only the match with shitenhouji was the first match, then we could have seen Echizen and Kintarou.

Yeah, and see Echizen lose =) Though Shitenhouji losing on their first round instead of Higa... That's just a horrible thought.

True but they're still one of the top four schools in the nation. It's all gin's fault if he only killed kawamura before he hit the final hadokyuu, then we could have seen kintarou vs. echizen.

It's all gin's fault if he only killed kawamura before he hit the final hadokyuu, then we could have seen kintarou vs. echizen. LOL!! Somebody's evil. But seriously, when I saw Taka-san suffer like that, I thought for sure he'd lose... Or at least draw with Gin (like he did with Kabaji)... Who would've guessed he'd win the match by default? Anyways, after he's won, I thought Tezuka might lose, not in a singles match against Chitose, but in a doubles match against Chitose and Zaizen. I thought we'd see something incredible coming out from Zaizen... Or Inui, but no. Tezuka and Taka-san decided to win their matches and not let Ryoma play against Kin T_T But it's a thought, Gin killing Taka-san. Maybe he'll get arrested and the matches (yet to come) will be suspended... Does anybody know of a good jutsu that will allow me to take full control of Konomi's mind?

lol ask Kakashi to borrow his Sharingan It's sad, because I wa looking forward to the kind of combinations the Tezuka/Inui pair would have *sigh* what a waste of a good doubles pair...

eh well it was mentioned in another topic (cant remember -_-) in tezuka's match, inui and zaizen were just standing there doing nothing, it seemed almost like a singles match.
hmm if the kintarou vs echizen match had really taken place, who'd have won? and would echizen unlock at least one door?
off topic: when i first read the manga i thought kintarou looked exactly like echizen without his cap.

Really I liked Kintarou's attitude which quite similar to Eiji's.

Yep, the PoP XD (Here I go again...). And I agree! They look exactly like twin brothers! Except for the hair... And their taste of dressing... But I think Kintarou is skinnier and has more muscles? Dunno, he was able to lift up a motorbike... Something I think Echizen cannot do. Really I liked Kintarou's attitude which quite similar to Eiji's. Yeah, he has a complete opposite personality to Echizen. I like the way he'll back up for himself though, lifting up a motorbike and smashing it to his rivals. Anyway, Echizen would've probably just challenged them to a tennis match and use his twist serve against them.

i;d like to see echizen lift up a motorbike (note: ridiculous)
well yeah i wish their match could have been longer, so we'll find out what ryoma's last shot is exactly.

Well, considering that there's only 12 more chapters left before the end of PoT, I think that we'll get an explanation of it very soon...

12 chapters doesn't seem long in fact now I'm wondering if they'll show the match between Echizen's dad and Echizen at all.

12 chapters left? WTF!! THEY STILL NEED TO SQUEEZE IN KINTAROU and ECHIZEN'S OFFICIAL MATCH!!! (yes yes... dreams D:)

12 chapters?!?!? where did you get that info from, marui? that means they're not ognna show echizen vs his dad and tezuka vs echizen(again... for the pillar of support) AH WELL. 12 CHAPTERS IS DARN SHORT- barely enough to complete the nationals
|
|
|
Post by shiraishik on Sept 5, 2007 17:13:45 GMT 7
Yeah, it does seem really short if you think about it....especially when you include that they are only just starting something interesting in the Doubles 2 match and there is at least one more match (then Rikkai would win) but because Seigaku will probably win there's at least two more...you think maybe they'll have an epilogue where it shows everyone like 20 years from now, that'd be cool. They could just stick it in after the Ryoma-Nanjirou match

|
|
Post by genichirou on Sept 5, 2007 19:06:21 GMT 7
if there're only 12 chapters left- will that be even enough to squeeze in the nanjiroh-echizen match, let alone the epilogue?
AAHHH we've been going off-topic. anyway i was hoping to see a formal kintarou vs echizen match, but like mamushi said, it's be quite impossible- seeing there's only 12 chapters left
